Stella O'Malley
psychotherapist; director, Genspect; author, What Your Teen is Trying to Tell You

Stella O’Malley is a psychotherapist and author of several books, including What Your Teen is Trying to Tell You. She is the founder and director of Genspect, an international organisation that promotes a healthy, evidence-based approach to sex and gender. Her private practice focuses on parenting, family dynamics, and adolescent mental health.

Stella first gained wider public attention with the 2018 Channel 4 documentary Trans Kids: It’s Time To Talk. In response to the growing number of families affected by gender distress, she founded both Beyond Trans and Genspect, and is the director of both organisations.

Genspect views gender dysphoria as a complex mental health issue requiring compassionate, thoughtful care. Stella is also co-host of the Beyond Gender podcast with Mia Hughes and Dr Bret Alderman, and co-author of When Kids Say They’re Trans.
