Ben Flatman
architectural editor, Building Design and Building; author, Birmingham: Shaping the City

Ben Flatman is architectural editor of Building Design and Building, leading publications in the architecture and construction industries. He studied modern history before retraining as an architect, going on to work for several of the UK’s leading architectural practices. He spent a decade working for the British Council, commissioning education and cultural projects across South and East Asia. He has written extensively on housing, planning, regeneration and urban design, with a particular focus on how policy, infrastructure and placemaking intersect. He is the author of Birmingham: Shaping the City (RIBA Publishing), which explores the regeneration of Birmingham.
