Rev Canon Rosie Harper
bishop’s adviser in women’s ministry and bishop’s chaplain

Canon Rosie Harper studied at Birmingham University, followed by postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music. She worked as a professional singer. Further studies included an MA in Philosophy and Religion. She was vicar of Great Missenden and is now chaplain to the Bishop of Buckingham and Bishop’s Advisor for Women’s Ministry.

A member of General Synod from 2010-2021, Rosie has written for the Guardian, broadcast regularly, and was a panel member for Any Questions, and contributes to public debate on ethics and philosophy. Her recent book, written with Alan Wilson, To Heal and Not to Hurt, addresses the issue of the church’s response to abuse. She has contributed chapters to at least 10 other books in recent years.

A dual-nationality Swiss, Rosie has a life-long experience of a society where assisted dying is normal and campaigns to give that opportunity to people dying in the UK. LGBTI+ acceptance within the church is an ongoing matter. She is deeply committed to working for issues of justice and equality within and beyond the church.
