Melissa Chen, born in 1985 in Singapore, is the director of a business intelligence firm specializing in analysing China risk. She’s also a free speech activist, having co-founded Ideas Beyond Borders, a non-profit that translates pivotal books about topics ranging from science and liberty into Arabic, and distributes and disseminates them in the Middle East for free.
Among their notable translations are George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four and writings by Thomas Paine and even modern books by Sam Harris and Steven Pinker, aimed at introducing these critical ideas to a wider audience.
Melissa also occasionally writes about geopolitics and US politics for the Spectator.
