Liam Halligan
columnist, Sunday Telegraph; author, Home Truths: the UK's chronic housing shortage

Liam Halligan is an economist, author and broadcaster, who also has extensive business experience. He is best known for his weekly Economics Agenda column, which has appeared in the Sunday Telegraph since 2003 and been recognised with a British Press Award.

His latest book, Home Truths: the UK’s chronic housing shortage, was described by The Times as ‘a brilliantly written gem’ and by campaigning charity Shelter as ‘a call to arms’. He previously co-authored Clean Brexit with Dr Gerard Lyons – a Daily Telegraph current-affairs book of the year, which The Times judged to be ‘persuasive and highly-influential’.

Halligan has reported for The Economist from Moscow, was political correspondent for the Financial Times and spent eight years leading the economics and business coverage on Channel 4 News.

Halligan also co-presents the Telegraph’s weekly Planet Normal podcast with fellow columnist Allison Pearson. He holds a first-class degree in economics from Warwick University and an MPhil (Econ) from St Antony’s College, Oxford.
