Alastair Mellon
civil engineer; PPC candidate, SDP, Coventry South

Born in Liverpool, Alastair grew up in Coventry before qualifying as a civil engineer. Alastair has built railways, factories, skyscrapers, thousands of apartments as well as refugee centres for 25,000 muslims in Bosnia during the Civil War. He has built and invested in several successful companies including Europe’s largest online psychiatry business, which treats 200,000 patients and employs more than 500 staff.

Alastair stood as the SDP candidate for Coventry South in the General Election because, he says, he is ‘not willing to accept the country we are leaving to our children’.
