Peter is a legal theorist focusing on the criminal law’s relationship to the state’s sovereignty; the democratic limits on criminal law; and the way in which contemporary law imagines its subjects as essentially vulnerable.

In addition to Taking Control, he is the author of The Insecurity State: Vulnerable Autonomy and the Right to Security in the Criminal Law (OUP 2012).
