Mercy Muroki

Mercy is a former broadcast journalist, columnist, and social policy analyst working as one of the minister for women and equalities’ closest advisers. Prior to this, she hosted a daily current affairs programme on GB News and wrote a column in the Sun.

Mercy’s interests and areas of research focus on the role of social policy in alleviating disadvantages relating to class, ethnicity, and nationality. She holds an MSc in Comparative Social Policy from the University of Oxford, where she trained in quantitative research methods and wrote her thesis on the links between race, immigration, and the welfare state across Europe.

In 2020, she was appointed by the government to serve on their Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities. Mercy has been a vocal advocate of taking a moderate, evidence-based, pragmatic approach in addressing contentious matters of inequality.

Her passion outside work include animals, and her daughter, Rosalind.
