James Holland
writer and political consultant; Leave campaigner; former communications director, European Conservatives and Reformists Party

James is a political consultant who has worked in and around the EU institutions for 15 years. Following the completion of his Masters in European politics and history, he went to work for the Conservative MEP Daniel Hannan, with whom he campaigned to push the EU towards a more intergovernmental and accountable model. When a British referendum on EU membership was offered, James campaigned for Britain to leave the EU. During this time, he was also communications director of the Conservative Party’s European political alliance, the ECR Party, playing a central role in efforts to build a formal European opposition to the dominant political coalition seeking ever greater EU integration.

James resigned from the EU institutions shortly after the vote to leave the EU and has since worked as a political and communications advisor in Brussels for a host of public and private sector clients, with a strong focus on communication campaigns and policy research.

He returned to the European Parliament for a brief stint after EU elections were held in the UK in 2019 to provide media support to the Brexit Party after its landslide victory in those elections.

James regularly posts European political news and commentary on X, and has had articles published by CapX, Reaction, IFT, Brexit Central and the Academy of Ideas.
