Graham Wettone
retired police officer; author, How to be a Police Officer; policing commentator

Graham joined the Metropolitan Police in 1979 and his 30-year career was predominantly in front line operational policing.

Graham is a class-1 police driver and driving assessor and was Public Order trained throughout his service, experiencing his first public disorder at Brixton in 1981 and also at Broadwater farm in 1985. During his eight years at New Scotland Yard, he managed the public order protest desk and jointly devised and wrote the national Forward Intelligence Trained officers course. Graham is widely acknowledged as a ‘subject matter’ expert on public order policing and protest groups within the UK.

Graham taught the pre-join Certificate of Knowledge in Policing Course (CKP) to recruits for the Metropolitan Police from 2014 until 2020. He works with many media outlets commentating on a wide range of policing stories. His first book, How to be a Police Officer was published in 2017 and he blogs here.
