Dr Elizabeth Seger
AI governance and ethics researcher, Centre for the Governance of AI

Dr Elizabeth Seger is a research scholar at the Centre for the Governance of AI (GovAI) in Oxford. She is also a research affiliate at the AI: Futures and Responsibility project, a collaboration between the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence and the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk in Cambridge.

Elizabeth’s research interests lie broadly in the ethics and governance of dual-use technologies. She currently leads GovAI’s research streams on AI democratisation, epistemic security (understanding how AI impacts information ecosystems and democratic processes) and foundation-model sharing strategy and policy (investigating the risks and benefits of open-source model sharing).

Elizabeth holds a PhD and an MSc in philosophy of science and technology from the University of Cambridge. Previously, she studied bioethics at the University of California, Los Angeles.
