Dave has worked in local government and the care sector for over two decades, predominantly in policy and engagement roles. He regularly takes part in public debates, and has appeared on TV and radio discussions on related topics. He is also a school governor, and has written for a variety of publications including the Guardian, Huffington Post and spiked.

He is contributing co-editor of The Future of Community (Pluto, 2008) and a contributor to The Future of the Welfare State (Axess, 2017).
