Andy Davey
freelance cartoonist

Born in London, Andy Davey’s dark years as a research chemist remain obscure, but after a rebirth in 1992, he emerged into the sunlit world of cartoons. Since then, he has had editorial cartoons, gag cartoons and caricatures published in various UK and European newspapers and magazines such as The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, The Scotsman, Private Eye, The Spectator, Prospect, Squib, E! Sharp, and the New Statesman and drew a weekly ‘profile’ caricature for The Sunday Telegraph. He drew daily editorial cartoons for The Sun for five years and is now freelance, mostly published in the Telegraph and sometimes the Evening Standard.

He has drawn for TV occasionally, covering political events for TV News and working on the satirical TV cartoon series 2DTV. He also paints (you know, ‘art’). He was forced with minor threats of violence to become chairman of the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation from 2006-1012 but has now recovered.

Andy’s cartoons are published in the Telegraph on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at https://telegraph.co.uk/opinion/cartoons.
