Dr Philip Kiszely
lecturer in performance and cultural histories, University of Leeds; author, Hollywood through Private Eyes

Philip has lectured at the University of Leeds for the last 15 years. He specialises in late twentieth century cultural and political history. The author of Hollywood through Private Eyes (2006), Philip has published extensively on film, television and popular music. He is the co-founding editor of the international peer-reviewed journal Punk & Post-Punk and an editorial board member for the Anthem book series on television studies.

Philip has been outspoken on identity politics, critical race theory and the activist impulse in the media and institutions. He has appeared on high-profile platforms like the New Culture Forum and has written for the online publication spiked.

On a lighter note – Philip is a bibliomaniac. He collects first-edition adventure, espionage, detective and private-eye novels from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. He also has a penchant for late 1960s style suits, shirts and ties, of which he has a formidable collection.
