Ashley Frawley is a sociologist and author of Semiotics of Happiness: rhetorical beginnings of a public problem published by Bloomsbury Academic in 2015 and the (long overdue) Significant Emotions which explores waves of emotion fads and the dwindling faith in human autonomy to which they speak. She also writes for Unherd and remains a ‘grumpy happiness critic’.
