Nick Busvine OBE

Nick Busvine graduated from Cambridge University (MA economics and law) in 1982. He then joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), serving as a diplomat in Malaysia, Syria, Mozambique, Colombia and Iraq as well as in London. Nick’s key work themes during his time in the FCO included: conflict resolution (awarded his OBE for his work on the Mozambican peace process in the early 1990s); counter-terrorism; and action against serious crime. Nick’s final posting was in Baghdad during the height of the war in Iraq (2006-07).

After taking early retirement from the FCO in 2011, Nick went into the private sector – and is now a founding partner of the London-based advisory firm Herminius.

Nick is an advisory board member of Briefings for Britain (https://www.briefingsforbritain.co.uk/), where he contributes articles on a range of issues. In 2012, Nick became a local town councillor in Sevenoaks and has twice been elected to represent his local ward. He served as mayor of Sevenoaks 2019-2021. 

Nick is a keen private pilot. He is a volunteer gliding instructor at Southdown Gliding Club in Parham, West Sussex. He is married, with three daughters.
