Amir Makatov
journalist; editor-on-duty, NIUS; musician

Amir Makatov, born in 1999, grew up in a politically left-wing milieu and was a committed Marxist-Leninist as a youth – until he matured into a staunch anti-communist. As a former board member of the Jewish Forum for Democracy and Against Antisemitism (JFDA), he gained close acquaintance with extremism and NGO structures through field observation. As a representative of Generation Z, he is deeply rooted in internet culture. He has been with NIUS since day one and now works there as its editor-on-duty, writing about antisemitism, political pop culture, extremism, and topics that often go under the radar in Germany.
