Mohammed Amin MBE

Mohammed Amin has on several occasions been listed as one of the hundred most influential Muslims in the UK.

Despite his parents being illiterate, Amin graduated in mathematics from Cambridge University and obtained a postgraduate certificate in education, with distinction, from Leeds University. He is a chartered accountant, a chartered tax adviser, and an associate member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers. Before retirement he was a tax adviser with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Amin was the first Muslim to be admitted to the Price Waterhouse partnership in the UK and for six years he was an elected member of PwC’s 15-person Supervisory Board.

In retirement, Amin focuses on building a cohesive society in the UK, helping individual Muslim and groups, and advancing interfaith understanding.

Amongst other roles, he is co-chair of the Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester. His work for the community was recognised by his selection as Clare College Cambridge’s Alumnus of the Year 2014. In June 2016, he was awarded an MBE for services to community cohesion and inter-faith felations in Greater Manchester.
