Joanna Collins
Green Party councillor, High Peak Borough Council

Joanna has been interested in environmental issues for many years. She was elected as a Green Party councillor representing Hope Valley on High Peak Borough Council in 2019, and tabled the Motion which led to the declaration of a Climate Emergency that year. She has been a member of the Council’s Climate Change Working Group since it was set up.

Outside the Council, Joanna is involved in a newly-formed group aiming to generate renewable energy in the Hope Valley, and to assist households with making their own homes more energy-efficient. She is also an active member of Divest Derbyshire, which lobbies Derbyshire County Council to divest all its pension funds from fossil fuels and reinvest in activities which are positive for the environment and for people.
