Dr Lola Salem

Dr Lola Salem graduated from the École Normale Supérieure in 2015 (MA musicology), the Sorbonne in 2018 (MA philosophy of arts) and the University of Oxford in 2023 (DPhil musicology). She currently writes on opera, performers, and the material and legal conditions of art business during the long seventeenth century.
Alongside her research, she works as a lecturer in French and Music at the University of Oxford. She was trained as a professional singer at the Maîtrise de Radio France between 2005 and 2010, and worked as an art critic since 2016 roaming through theatres and festivals across Europe.
Lola wrote ‘Pensions, administrative law, and the troupe at the Academie Royale de Musique in Paris under the Ancien Regime’ in The Fashioning of French Opera (1672-1791). Identity, Production, Networks.
