Dr James Orr
associate professor of philosophy of religion, University of Cambridge

James Orr is associate professor of Philosophy of Religion at the University of Cambridge and chair of the Edmund Burke Foundation UK.  He was previously the postdoctoral fellow at the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Life at Christ Church, Oxford. He holds a PhD and MPhil in philosophy of religion from the University of Cambridge and a BA in classics from Balliol College, Oxford.

Before entering academia, he worked as a corporate lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Sullivan & Cromwell. He is a trustee of St Paul’s Theological Centre and the Roger Scruton Legacy Foundation, an associate fellow of ResPublica, and a member of the Advisory Councils of the New Social Covenant Unit, the Free Speech Union, History Reclaimed, and Briefings for Britain.
