Dr Jeanette Rowley

Jeanette is known for advancing veganism by using human rights and equality law to protect vegans as a disruptive approach supporting animal rights by bringing about the development of policies and practices that validate veganism and support vegans and transitioning vegans. She is the founder of a new global approach to the use of law to protect vegans, she chairs The Vegan Society’s International Rights Network and manages the society’s vegan rights advocacy service to support vegans experiencing unfair and discriminatory treatment.

Jeanette has a PhD in veganism and human rights. She has spoken around the world on the topic of animal rights and human exceptionalism to promote the idea that human beings are motivated to ethics in response to suffering, that this is clearly indicated by our natural concern for other animals, and that this idea should ground legal rights for all sentient beings to be protected from harm.
